Redevelopment of the adventure playground at Leisee

From this summer, the adventure children's playground in the family-friendly adventure park on Sunnegga near Lake Leisee will shine in new splendour. The newly designed playground reflects the fascinating fauna and flora of Zermatt and brings visitors a little closer to the impressive mountain world around the idyllic Lake Leisee. With a well elaborated concept that combines play, activity and closeness to nature, the playground blends harmoniously into the family-friendly ambience at the Leisee.

The playground was designed in close collaboration with one of Switzerland's leading playground manufacturers with the aim of creating a varied, visually appealing and sustainable playing area. It combines adventure, nature experience and relaxation and offers locals and guests, young and old, a perfect environment for playing, discovering and cosy get-togethers. Each piece of play equipment complies with the safety standard for children's playgrounds and is unique, made from durable materials that will guarantee fun for many years to come. The wooden play equipment was developed and produced in Switzerland - predominantly from local materials. Particular attention was paid to short transport routes and close co-operation with regional partners in order to pursue a resource-saving construction method. This sustainable approach is in line with the strategic goals of Zermatt Bergbahnen and reflects the three pillars of sustainability: economy, ecology and social responsibility.

The entrance area with its four trampolines integrated into the lawn invites children to jump and romp around. In addition, the swing provides a shared swinging experience and ensures special fun. The highlight of the new facility are the two towers that form the centre of the new playground. The smaller tower symbolises the world of mountain railways with a ‘funicular railway’ as a climbing ascent. From there, a balancing course connects the entire facility in a playful way. In addition, a jungle rope bridge leads to the larger tower, where children can climb up through space nets and then hurtle down a curved slide. The top section of the tower is an eagle's nest where an eagle lands.

Another eye-catching feature is the climbing marmot, which looks out over the lake with watchful eyes. This lovingly designed play equipment can be climbed on from inside and outside and provides children with a hiding place - while parents can still keep an eye on them at all times. It is an excellent area for the youngest visitors. In addition, two pipes for speaking provide an additional play area. Conversations across the playground are thus possible in a unique way.

Around the playground, cosy hammocks with views of the impressive mountain scenery invite you to relax. Decorative wooden figures of Valais black-necked goats and black-nosed sheep create visual accents, provide an additional climbing opportunity and are also perfect as photo subjects.

The adventure park on Sunnegga also offers barbecue areas for cosy get-togethers, the wooden ball track, which opened last year, as well as a wooden raft and exciting water games. The mixture of adventure, relaxation and nature experience makes the adventure park on Sunnegga a unique place for the whole family - perfect for an unforgettable family day in the heart of the Zermatt mountains.
