Sustainable into the future with the TourCert award

Another important step towards a sustainable future has been achieved. Zermatt Bergbahnen is one of the first mountain railways in Switzerland to obtain the TourCert seal. This sets an important benchmark for the balance and continuous progress of the company's economic, ecological and social sustainability.

For Zermatt Bergbahnen, sustainability means that we constantly and consistently implement sensible measures on an economic, ecological and social level. For us, this encompasses more than just the environmental protection aspect. The three pillars - economy, ecology and social issues - are of equal importance, they are interlinked and directly related to each other. In order to emphasise this balance even more, we decided around a year ago to replace the previous ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification with the specific TourCert sustainability certification. Following a comprehensive assessment by a TourCert expert commission and the implementation of measures in accordance with an identified improvement programme, Zermatt Bergbahnen can now proudly report on its success in achieving initial certification from TourCert.

The internationally recognised consulting and certification system TourCert covers the entire value chain in tourism and ensures that economic, ecological and social aspects are in harmony. With the certification, the Zermatt Bergbahnen are committed to promoting issues such as environmental protection and fair working conditions while continuously making improvements. Alongside the certification process, a sustainability report is produced at regular intervals, which provides transparent information on all activities, services and progress in relation to the three pillars of sustainability.
